West Hawaii is where we live, work and play, so it very important for us to give back to the community that has given us so much. We fully realize that Hawaii Island is geographically isolated and smaller in population than many towns on the mainland. Because of this, we have a special responsibility to help each other and strengthen the foundations that make Hawaii such a special place to live and work.
At Kona Impact, we have focused our community support efforts on several areas:
- Buying Locally We are very committed to sourcing our products and services locally. Our first choice for buying local is companies that have supported us.The next levels of our suppliers are businesses that are locally owned with chains and big box stores as the last choice. Our goal is to keep our money in our community, so whenever possible, we’ll chose to source locally. We are also very loyal to clients who have supported us. Are we perfect? Absolutely not! Are we trying! Absolutely.
- Donations of Goods, Services and Financial Contributions to Local Organizations. We pick one non-profit a year for major giving and make smaller donations to organizations that do good in the community. In the past we have supported Habitat for Humanity, GEMS, The Pregnancy Center, Deep and Beyond, FRIENDS of the Children’s Justice Center, Therapeutic Horsemanship, Hawaii Island Hoops, the Kona Historical Society, The Food Basket, Ignite Literacy Program at Holualoa Elementary School, the Aloha Theater and numerous Rotary Club of Kona projects, We do not make donations to off-island businesses.
- Volunteer Time Kona Impact employees have received paid work time for volunteering for a Habitat for Humanity home build, vision testing for West Hawaii third graders (a Rotary Club of Kona project), Special Olympics and blood donations at local blood drives.
- Non-profit rates available to local non-profits. If your organization has 501(c)3 status and you provide services in the Kona community.
